In Old England Anglo-Saxon kings called witans – meetings of wise men, magnates, and religious leaders – to give good counsel during his hour of need. As our forefathers did, we gather to question our course and to steer ourselves towards suitable solutions to the ills of our land. After three insightful witans, Scyldings returns with our fourth meeting of wise men. This year the council will discuss ‘A New Order?’

2024’s witan will take place between August 30th and September 1st in Warwickshire, near to the ancient capital of Mercia’s kings! Whereat the foremost scholars, creatives, and practical men of our sphere will amass to discuss Britain’s state and how we will weather these dark days. What will Britain’s new order be? What will its metaphysical framework contain? And what manner of men will lead it?

This year’s Witenagemot shall see a mixture of new and returning speakers, all of whom have extensively pondered the matter at hand. We are pleased to announce Academic Agent, Carl Bejamin, and Edward Dutton will all be speaking. This year will see another mystery speaker appear! More memorable names are set to be announced but slots are available for applicant speakers too. If you want the opportunity to speak at the Witan, then email us with a speech pitch. Please keep your pitch to no more than one and a half pages. Outline your argument and how it will contribute to the theme of the event. All speakers receive free entry into the Witan. All essays of sufficient standard will be published in the event book.
